Business Analyst/Product Owner- Payments
We're hiring a Business Analyst/Product Owner who knows payments inside out: the payment rails, the message types, and the operations behind settlement. You’ll draft requirements, work with the business to shape them, and collaborate with the engineering team to build the software. You are responsible for end-to-end product delivery. If you’re a payments expert, we’re looking for you.
The role at a glance
- Payments expert
- Business Analyst/Product Owner
- Fully remote for a top North American bank (for residents of Poland and Romania)
This role requires deep payments expertise: SWIFT message types, payment rails and how they interact, and the business operations around payment settlement. If you like to move fast, dig into hard problems, and own how something gets built rather than just executing someone else's plan, join us and build the next generation of high-performance capital markets solutions.
Why join us?
- Work at the center of payments processing for a top North American bank
- Real ownership: gather requirements, manage the backlog, and hold the dev team accountable
- Join a lean, high-output team that brings a lot of value to the entire organization
- Long-term, fully remote role with the stability that comes from working with a major bank
The ideal candidate will have hands-on payments experience and a real grasp of how payments work in practice, not just the theory. They must also be curious, self-driven, and keen to keep learning the parts of the business they don't know yet. English proficiency is a must.
This is a fully remote role for a professional based in Poland or Romania. You will be working through a Polish company that will provide the support and administrative assistance to make you successful in the role. We are looking for people to join the team long-term.
Only open to residents of Poland and Romania. Citizens and legal residents with permission to work in Poland or Romania are welcome.
What we offer
- Real ownership: you drive requirements end to end, not merely administer a ticket queue for someone else's decisions
- Work that matters: build products that support money markets and payments at a top North American bank
- Direct collaboration: you work face-to-face with the business and the development team
- A lean, senior team: colleagues who do the work themselves and help each other to succeed
- Long-term commitment: this is not a fixed-scope or fixed-term outsourcing role; we value people who want to grow and contribute long-term.
- Flexibility & remote work: fully remote position.
- Competitive compensation: top pay and ample time-off flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Bring deep payments domain knowledge (message types, rails, settlement operations) so requirements and reviews are technically grounded
- Define requirements for payment message handling, including SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 (MX) formats and the mapping between them
- Collect and scope requirements for payment flows across rails and the interchange between them
- Work with operations teams to understand and improve payment processing and settlement workflows
- Translate requirements into Jira tickets, own the backlog, and hold the development team accountable for quality, on-time delivery
- Run acceptance testing to confirm delivered work actually meets the requirement
- Use AI tools to speed up requirements, testing, or delivery work where it makes sense
Requirements
Must have
- 5+ years of Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Product Owner experience in payments
- Expert knowledge of SWIFT
- Strong understanding of payment rails and the interchange between them (e.g. SWIFT, Fedwire, PIX)
- Hands-on experience with payment processing and the business operations around payment settlement
- Ability to take on a problem and deliver the solution without needing to be walked through every step
- A bias for action and an execution mindset: Ability to drive requirements straight from the business, not waiting to be told what to do
- Willingness to follow through until issues are resolved, figuring out how to solve problems as opposed to waiting for answers
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to align your work hours to maintain a 5-6-hour overlap with US Eastern business hours.
Nice to have
- Murex experience
- FX or Money Markets domain knowledge
- Experience using AI tools to speed up requirements, testing, or delivery work
- Options knowledge
