Calypso Developer

220zł - 250zł / hr B2B net + VAT

We're hiring an experienced Calypso developer to build and extend the vendor platform powering fixed income, foreign exchange, and derivatives trading at a top North American bank. You’ll work directly in Calypso and build new features, extend integrations, and ensure that everything works smoothly.

The Role at a Glance

  • Calypso Engineer
  • Work with fixed income, foreign exchange, and derivatives trading systems at a top North American bank
  • One of the largest Calypso deployments in the world
  • Fully remote, for residents of Poland and Romania only

This role requires experience with Calypso and strong Java development skills. You'll be extending the platform directly, not just configuring it through a UI. If you like digging into hard problems and want to work on a platform used by one of the largest Calypso deployments in the world, join us.

Why Join Us?

  • Build on Calypso, working at one of the largest Calypso deployments in the world, on fixed income and derivatives workflows.
  • Real engineering ownership: you’ll be part of the core development and business analyst team, not merely providing support.
  • Join a growing team: the business is expanding, and Calypso's footprint is growing with it
  • Long-term, fully remote role with the stability that comes from working with a major bank

A successful candidate will be a strong Java engineer with the prior Calypso experience. You should be analytical, curious, and comfortable asking questions or just trying things rather than waiting to be told.

This is a fully remote role for a professional based in Poland or Romania. You will be working through a Polish company that will provide the support and administrative assistance to make you successful in the role. We are looking for people to join the team long-term.

Only open to residents of Poland or Romania. Citizens, as well as legal residents with permission to work in Poland or Romania, are welcome.

Time zone: you'll need a 3–4 hour daily overlap with US Eastern business hours, as most meetings happen in the morning. During onboarding, you will need to be more flexible and provide more timezone overlap.

What we offer

  • Work that matters: build on one of the largest Calypso deployments in the world
  • Professional growth: Collaborate with smart, highly capable developers and business administrators in a supportive and challenging environment.
  • Direct collaboration: You will work directly with the client team in North America and in Poland.
  • Long-term commitment: This is not a fixed-scope or fixed-term outsourcing role; we value people who want to grow and contribute long-term.
  • Flexibility & remote work: Fully remote position based in Poland or Romania, with increasing schedule flexibility post-onboarding.
  • Competitive Compensation: Top pay and ample time-off options.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Calypso APIs, workflows, engines, events, reporting, and scheduled tasks using Java.
  • Integrate Calypso with external systems using MQ, Kafka, and Webservice/HTTP.
  • Write and optimize SQL, troubleshoot database issues, and work with Oracle-backed Calypso environments.
  • Support Calypso applications in Linux/Unix environments, using shell scripting to automate development and operational tasks.
  • Maintain and improve build, deployment, and release processes using GitHub, Azure DevOps, Ansible, and JFrog Artifactory.
  • Work from requirements and tickets defined by business analysts, thinking critically and contributing your experience and domain knowledge, and actively help shape solutions that empower the bank’s business users.
  • Fix defects, participate in code review, and maintain code quality across the Calypso codebase.
  • Support testing and validation of changes before they reach production.
  • Use AI tools to speed up development or testing work where it makes sense.

Requirements

Must have

  • 5+ years hands-on Calypso development experience; V17+ strongly preferred
  • Working with APIs, workflows, engines, events, reporting, and scheduled tasks, and integrating it with external systems.

  • Experience with the collateral management module.
  • Strong SQL and database experience, preferably Oracle.

  • Solid understanding of fixed income, FX, interest rate derivatives, and credit derivatives.
  • Experience supporting high-volume trading environments in investment banking/capital markets.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and operate successfully within structured project environments.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity: read between the lines and fill in the blanks, ask clear questions, leverage AI tools to fill gaps, and generally know where to turn to proactively develop solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working in high-stakes, trader-facing environments.
